Art therapy programme

An art therapy programme carried out within the Casal del Marmo Juvenile Detention Centre. Through creative techniques such as drawing, collage and photography, the young participants are guided through a process of emotional exploration and the rediscovery of their inner resources.

Art therapy programme

Project

The programme is structured in three progressive phases: from the discovery and recognition of one’s emotions, to the acquisition of tools for more effective communication with the outside world, and finally to a shared creative dimension and group-based project work. Sessions take place on a weekly basis.

Location

Goals

The lab aims to promote the emotional wellbeing of participants, enhance and value each individual’s personal resources, improve relational dynamics, and foster an authentic sense of personal fulfilment.

Art therapists

Agnese Ascioti and Antonio Cortese are both specialised in art therapy at the Nuova Associazione Europea per le Arti Terapie in Rome.

Agnese's background is rooted in theatre — from the Scuola del Teatro Nazionale di Genova to the Grotowski Institute — which led her to explore the arts as a tool for supportive relationships. She has worked with Fondazione Villa Maraini Onlus and the anti-violence centre Pangea EtS.

Antonio combines a design background — a degree in Industrial Design from La Sapienza and a specialisation in graphic design from IED — with a longstanding practice in ceramics. He has gained experience as an art therapist working with young adults with disabilities at Capodarco Formazione Impresa Sociale.
