Canine Educator course

The Canine Educator course is an advanced professional training programme dedicated to the development of educational skills in the human–dog relationship. The programme also represented a learning opportunity with potential professional pathways in the external job market, in addition to its educational and relational value within the penitentiary context.

Project

The project aimed to provide basic skills in the relationship with and management of dogs, promoting an understanding of animal behaviour and the acquisition of practical tools to support educational activities.

The programme also fostered responsibility, awareness and relational skills, enhancing the human–animal bond as an educational tool and an opportunity for personal growth, with potential professional outcomes also outside the penitentiary context.

The course was carried out in collaboration with CIAC, ACSI and Rotary International.

Goals

The project aimed to train individuals capable of understanding and consciously managing the human–dog relationship, developing educational skills, behavioural observation abilities and the capacity to handle relational dynamics.

Through the programme, the intention was to promote responsibility, empathy and communication skills, while also fostering personal growth and social reintegration processes, with the possibility of developing professional opportunities beyond the penitentiary context.
