Luiss Guido Carli University
The Severino Foundation and Luiss Guido Carli University have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to promote the culture of legality, the enhancement of the individual, the education of students and the re-education of persons deprived of their liberty through joint activities in and out of prison.
Project
The Protocol was created with the aim of building a bridge between the academic and penitentiary worlds, directly involving Luiss students in projects related to criminal justice, prison sentencing, prison labor and prisoners' rights.
Students actively participate in the Foundation's activities, contributing their efforts to the legal counseling desk, educational and cultural workshops, and mentoring and accompaniment actions aimed at inmates and former inmates.
Through this training experience in the field, young people are directly confronted with the critical issues and potential of the penal and prison system, maturing awareness, civic sense and listening skills.
The Protocol also includes the promotion of theoretical-practical research paths on punishment and justice innovation, contributing to the dissemination of a legal culture attentive to the person and oriented toward overcoming prejudice.
Objectives
The agreement aims to foster the formation of aware and responsible students, capable of reading the penal system not only from a normative point of view, but also from a human and social one. At the same time, it aims to enhance the educational relationship and peer confrontation as tools for redemption, dignity and growth, supporting concrete paths of re-education, stigma abatement and openness towards a more equitable and inclusive justice.
