VENUS – Crochet workshop

Through crochet workshops, we contributed to the creation of the VENUS exhibition, hosted at PM23, which presents the monumental work conceived by Joana Vasconcelos in dialogue with the creative legacy of Valentino Garavani.

VENUS – Crochet workshop

Project

Through crochet workshops activated in the women’s section of Rebibbia prison, participants were able to make a concrete contribution to the creation of VENUS, a collective artwork that brings together different worlds — educational, social, healthcare, and penitentiary — in a single shared creative gesture.

The exhibition, promoted by the Fondazione Valentino Garavani e Giancarlo Giammetti | PM23, demonstrates how beauty can become a tool for dialogue and social transformation when it arises from a collective and inclusive process.

Objectives

With the valuable contribution of the Valentino Foundation, we have promoted pathways of social inclusion through artistic and craft-based practices, offering female detainees tools for creative expression and qualified hands-on training. We have fostered active participation in an internationally significant artistic project, strengthening the link between contemporary art, fashion, and social responsibility, valuing collective work as a form of personal and social recognition, and supporting the idea of art as a space for connection, growth, and transformation.
