Head of legal affairs and prisoners’ rights

Marica Ioppolo is Head of legal affairs and prisoners’ rights at the Severino Foundation.

Within the Foundation, she coordinates legal activities and the protection of the rights of incarcerated and formerly incarcerated individuals. Together with other lawyers and students from LUISS Guido Carli University, she participates in the legal counselling desk at the Rebibbia Women’s Prison and the Juvenile Social Services Office (USSM) in Rome, providing support on exercising rights, sentence execution, and social security and welfare protections.

A criminal defense lawyer specialized in prison law, she has gained professional experience at a supervisory authority. At LUISS, she is a teaching assistant in Criminal Procedure Law.

With a straightforward and direct approach, she combines expertise, social sensitivity, and determination in her work to build a prison system that is fairer and more respectful of each person’s dignity.
