Head of research, training, and advocacy

Pietro Maria Sabella is Head of research, training, and advocacy at the Severino Foundation.

Pietro contributes to developing research and training activities on criminal law and the execution of sentences, and takes part in managing the legal counselling desk at the Rebibbia Women’s Prison and the Juvenile Social Services Office (USSM) in Rome. He is particularly committed to promoting pathways that highlight the rehabilitative purpose of sentencing and the use of alternatives to incarceration.

A criminal defense lawyer and academic, he teaches the Law & Humanities course and co-teaches the Legal Clinic on Prison and Prisoners’ Rights at LUISS Guido Carli University, where he focuses on the evolution of the criminal justice system and restorative justice.

With a sensitive, respectful approach and natural courtesy, Pietro combines academic expertise, social commitment, and a passion for a more effective and inclusive justice system.
